An additional set of 18 e-textbooks in key vocational areas, including titles to support the new diplomas are now freely available to colleges. The list of new titles can be found here. JISC Collections is in the process of making the Heritage records available for the collection. Anna Vernon, the Project Manager will write to members of the e-books for FE mailing list when the records are ready.

The e-Books for FE project has got off to an excellent start and 361 colleges have signed up to access the 3,000 e-books currently available. In view of this success, JISC has provided funding for JISC Collections to procure additional e-textbooks to extend the range of subjects and levels covered in the collection. As with the main collection, the additional e-books will be freely available to staff and students at all FE colleges in the UK via the ebrary platform from May 2010 until 31st August 2014.

In November 2009 JISC Collections asked the Further Education community to assess the e-books submitted in response to the Invitation to Tender for Supplementary e-books, through a community consultation. As with the first consultation we received an enthusiastic response from the community, with 90 FE colleges responding to the consultation casting around 29208 votes. JISC Collections and the Project Board would like to thank the colleges who responded and we will be making an announcement about the additional e-books shortly.
